Planting bars are special tools designed to speed up tree planting. Similar to a shovel, the bar is designed to be plunged into the ground, rocked back and forth to create a cavity, tree inserted, earth packed back in, add water, and you're good to go!

These experienced bright orange tools of love are available to borrow from Let’s Plant Trees whenever you need them.
In order to keep track of them, we named our seven planting bars after some of our favorite folk singers.

BOB DYLAN
Born in nearby Duluth and growing up in Hibbing, Bob wandered through those beautiful Northern Minnesota woods often through his adventures as a youth. Bob has been a supporter of various environmental groups that work on reforestation. Thanks Bob and keep up your great work!
NEIL YOUNG
A legendary musician and passionate environmental activist, Neil has long been an advocate for environmental causes. He has been most vocal about climate change, sustainable farming, and the dangers of fossil fuels. He has supported various environmental organizations and has even toured in an electric car!
GORDON LIGHTFOOT
Even though he wrote "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" at a diner in New York City, we still love him. And chances are, he planted many trees in upstate NY. He was born in Orillia, a small city in Ontario Canada, which shares its majestic beauty with Northern Minnesota. Rest in peace our friend.
WOODY GUTHRIE
They say, Woody's music was "rooted" in the beauty of the American landscape. And as he wrote, "This land is your land, this land is my land" could not have been said better. We appreciate your words of wisdom, Woody, and we love your name!
CAROLE KING
Carole has been involved in environmental efforts related to planting trees and protecting forests. She has been an advocate for the preservation of natural habitats. One notable effort is her involvement with the Alliance for the Wild Rockies, where she has worked to protect wilderness areas and old-growth forests.
JERRY GARCIA
Yes, Jerry, the legendary guitarist and vocalist for the Grateful Dead, was known for his environmental activism. He supported various causes related to environmental conservation and was particularly passionate about preserving forests.
JOHN DENVER
John was known for his advocacy of environmental causes. His contributions to environmental awareness are apparent through his music, public advocacy, and support for organizations promoting conservation and sustainability.
